Gene Houston started Sharpline Painting in 2000 and received his General Contractors License from the State of California in 2004. In an effort to better meet his clients’ needs, Gene teamed up with Shevy and Carl to open up a Kitchen Showroom, Makenas's Home Makeover. He felt that this would provide the opportunity to both better educate his clients on the services that he and his team could provide to the home owner as well as to provide those services. Gene graduated from CSUF, was a member of the collegiate Volleyball team, and now races MotorCross any chance he gets. Gene has been married to Stacey for 9 years and has a 5 year old daughter named Makena. He enjoys being a contractor because of its challenges and opportunity to meet new people. He understands the issue of trust when working with a contractor and it is his priority to earn that trust with every client.

Shevy Akason joined the Sharpline team in 2004 and is now part-owner of Makena's Home Makeover. After taking over the painting division for Gene, he had proven that he was willing and highly qualified to step into an ownership role through his amazing customer service and constant search to expand the company. Shevy graduated from Clarement McKenna as a member of their basketball team. He has been married to his wife Erika for 3 years and has a 1 1/2 yr. old daughter, Krimzen. Shevy is a rare find when it comes to customer service and sales. Clients are often impressed by his kindness which can be chalked up to his up-bringing in Fargo, ND.

Carl Houston recently retired from Ratheon where he worked for 25 years. Carl has been married to Gene's Mom, Pam for 34 years. He spends his free time traveling around the country in his motorhome and helping out at his church. He is proud of Gene and his accomplishments and decided to join his home improvement team in 2004. As part-owner of Makena's, Carl has taken on the responsiblity of chief financial officer as well as producing kitchen projects as needed. Carl is there to be sure that clients’ needs are met from the first point of contact until the final walk-through.

Gram Bishof began working with Sharpline in the summer of 2005 after being recommended by Shevy Akason. During his tenure at Sonoma State, Gram had worked with Shevy in the San Francisco Bay area and went through an extensive training program. Through this he learned about the value of quality work and the inherent sense of accomplishment. Luckily, at the same time Shevy was to join Sharpline, Gram transferred to San Diego State. A meeting with Gene established him as a representive of the company in the San Diego area. Selecting only those jobs that could be handled while attending school, Gram was able to expand the company to the San Diego area. Just this past May he became a graduate of Computer Science with a BS from SDSU. As planned, he moved to Orange County and joined the team. Gram has made himself a permenant and crucial addition to the Sharpline/Makena family.

Jeff Thompson is Makena's Kitchen Designer and has been with the team since 2005. Prior to joining Makena's, Jeff had been splitting his time between designing, teaching middle-school, and filming and producing surfing videos. Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife of one year and one month old daughter, Belen. Jeff has completed training in the cutting edge technology of 20-20 design. He is an expert designer with the program, providing clients with beautiful 3D views of their potential kitchen. His Iowa spirit will make you feel at ease with your kitchen project.

Mark Copland joined SharpLine in January of 2003 after becoming fast friends with Gene and Stacey. Born and raised in Virginia, he moved west in 1997 to seek fame, fortune and friends. He has found one out of the three with SharpLine and Makena’s. Mark received his degree in music from James Madison University and is still active in playing his trumpet and attempting death defying break dancing maneuvers. He lives in Redondo Beach with his girlfriend Mona and her son Conor. Mark is currently SharpLine’s window manager and Los Angeles county paint manager. He has been certified by Certainteed windows to install all products and is constantly a student of both the painting and retro-fit window industries.
